OSHAKATI MARKET
OSHAKATI MARKET
About

As one of the most densely populated towns in Namibia, Oshakati is grappling with the pressures and subsequent sprawl of its rural to urban migration. The design establishes the market as the central meeting point of the people by forming shaded pedestrian streets and squares which are integrated into the existing urban fabric, and is crowned by a tower as a beacon of identity within the region. The program consists of a new formalised taxi and bus terminals, a 400 stall open market housing spaces for crafts, retail, fresh produce and formal cooking areas, as well as public spaces and administrative facilities.
